Getting started in the vNARCON 2022 "Arduino Altimeter, Make It, Take It" project.

Welcome to the vNARCON 2022 "Arduino Altimeter, Make It, Take It" group. The first step is to read through the main wiki page at https://groups.nar.org/g/MakeIt-TakeIt/wiki/28818 before doing anything else. As of early January 2022 the information for ordering parts, should you choose to build the project, is believed to be stable. If you have questions feel free to email me directly, or if you think the question would be useful to the whole group, feel free to post in the Messages area at https://groups.nar.org/g/MakeIt-TakeIt/topics I hope you enjoy this experiment! Best wishes, Will -- Will Marchant, KW4WZ will@... http://www.spaceflightsoftware.com/will/

Anyone else flown the PocketLab Voyager? 17 messages
I got one flight on a PL Voyager last Sunday (in a Green Eggs) and....well, let's say it's interesting so far....and probably pretty far off topic for this group. But I'm curious to hear of other expe

Launch detect
Hello All, Thanks to Will and Bruce for fun makeit and takeit workshop at NARCON 2022! I have added a few lines of code that will allow the altimeter to detect liftoff as well as time of peak altitude

PocketLab - memory mode - you can't turn off some sensors despite what the app implies 2 messages
Here's my answer from Robby Douhtitt, Director of Education at PocketLab on limiting which sensor data is recorded: I have subsequently asked him what "30.000 data points" really means. In my own test

Bruce, Based on my experience with FlightSketch Minis and Bluetooth Low Energy I’m assuming memory mode will be needed. I’ll run it at 10Hz since that’s what the minimum requirement is for NAR/FAI alt

Making progress….will fly on Sunday - FAI specs and PocketLab 2 messages
I just looked at (and downloaded) the 1 January 2022 FAI document that includes the spacemodelling altimeter specs. It looks to me that they did not change anything in that section from the initial 20

Five flights today with the Arduino Feather in an Estes Green Eggs - results and thoughts 3 messages
Some of you may have already looked, but here’s a summary of the results I got from flying the Arduino Feather and associated bits from the vNARCON project today. First of all, I tweaked the code to,

OK…some updates. First I reloaded the simple altitude sketch with Will’s revision that simply hard-coded in a baseline of 15ºC, and ran my two comparisons again (put the sensor board and an AltimeterO

Making progress….will fly on Sunday — now have flown it five times....
Bruce, I used a version where I commented out the altitude-calculating line Will had and substituted my own based on the FAI equation. I also tweaked some timing in the countdown before it starts look

FAI competition altimeter specs 2 messages
Here’s the FAI document, created in 2015 and put into place the following year, that defines many things about altimeters used in international Spacemodeling competition. I think much of what we’ve be

Okay, some thoughts regarding the altitude discrepancies we spoke about during NARAM 2022. I haven’t been able to try this out with actual hardware; I’m just browsing the code and thinking the problem
